School Board Holloman Ex Officio member, Col. Alfred Rosales, announced at Alamogordo Public Schools’ October 18, 2023, regular board meeting that his leadership and several of the military-connected families making up 31% of the APS student population feel there is substantial concern over safety, especially at the high school, after the shooting last Friday involving “school-aged children.” Col. Rosales stated that his leadership has concluded this event is not an “outlier” situation, but they are still “hopeful.” Holloman AFB will be starting a “dialogue” with Alamogordo Public Schools from this moment forward to “explore on a serious note” the making of a High School Satellite School on base. Col. Rosales brought up the possibility of incorporating that into the new Holloman Middle School construction and will work with the district to obtain any needed funding.
We have reached out to Col. Rosales to gather more information and have not received a response at the time of publication.
