Dear Members of the Alamogordo Public Schools Community,
As Board President, I want to assure you that your elected Alamogordo Public Schools (APS) Board is deeply committed to the highest standards of excellence and integrity in our educational system. Our primary focus going forward is, and always will be, the well-being and success of our students, as well as the trust and confidence of our community.
During our recent executive session, the Board engaged in thoughtful and thorough deliberations on limited personnel matters concerning the superintendent, as stated in the agenda of the meeting. I wish to affirm that every discussion of the Board is guided by our unwavering commitment to the welfare of our students, the betterment of our district, and the trust of our community. Any actions must be preceded by careful consideration of all available information, within the constraints of our legal, policy, and ethical obligations. This was our first executive session of our newly elected Board members and newly reconstituted Board. We understand and appreciate the community’s interest in the proceedings of our Board meetings, especially when it comes to decisions that impact our schools and students. We invite and welcome the community interest. Consistent with the Open Meetings Act, no action was taken in executive session. All actions of the Board will be made in open session after adequate notice to the public of what the Board may be taking action on.
I understand that there may be questions and concerns regarding specific issues within our district. While the details of specific personnel matters often require confidentiality, please be assured that the Board is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of conduct and governance. Any actions will always be taken with the best interests of our students, staff, and community in mind, respecting the legal, policy, and ethical boundaries that govern the operation of our district.
